PUTTING COLOUR INTO YOUR MUSIC
With Classic Rock Through The Ages

Guest Programmer: NICHOLAS PEGG - Author Of The Complete David Bowie

At the helm on our 17th February 2013 show was actor, director and author Nicholas Pegg, writer of the mammoth reference work "The Complete David Bowie".

Our only brief for his selection was to steer clear of the more well known Bowie tracks. He delivered on the playlist, and provided a detailed commentary on each of the selected tracks. If his passion and enthusiasm for one of his personal favourite artists doesn't get you looking into Bowie a little deeper than Space Oddity and Ashes To Ashes, we're not sure what will!
Nicholas Pegg

Nick is also known for his work in Doctor Who. Since 2005 he has been playing those most evil of mutant genocidal maniacs, the Daleks. Although our chat with him about this was cut from the broadcast version for time constraints, we've included it on the re-stream as an "extra". We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Feature: The Many Shades Of Manfred Mann

The Ascent of Mann / Soul of Mann / Five Faces of Manfred Mann - just some of the albums we highlighted on our 10th February 2013 show.

We shared Manfred Mann in all its varied guises... Manfred Mann, Manfred Mann Chapter 3, Manfred Mann's Earth Band. We were determined not to let "Blinded By The Light" turn you off! We wanted to show you that there was much much more to this funky progressive rock band.

And we did!

Feature: The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

For our 27th January 2013 show, Ash, in true DJ style, mixed up the classic Genesis album "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway". This gave us a fascinating new take on one of the most important of Prog records of all time.

After a great interlude of psychedelic, spacerock and krautrock tunes, "D.W." rounded out hour 3 with music associated with the wonderful Birds Robe Records label.

Fun times.

Best Progressive Music Of 2012

Broadcast 13/01/2013.

Ok so it's all subjective. These are the tunes and bands that simply "did it" for us over the past 12 months. Prog fans the world over may argue the toss, and we're sorry that we didn't have more time to fit in more of the wonderful output from all over the world. It's a tragedy that we only had 2 hours for this feature.

Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts on the year that was in Progressive Music.

Special Guest Programmers: Nobby & Locky!

Nobby & Locky...back in the studio!

Long-time presenter Nobby (left), and Kaleidoscope Ears founder Locky came back on air to guest program our 30/12/12 show.

It was a pleasure to have the boys back on talking about the specific genres they love, with all three (including Dwayne) throwing tracks into the mix.

Nobby got the "Q" word in (Quintessential for the uninitiated) with just 12 minutes to spare and Locky dived headlong into the musical area he is most passionate about, American Garage.

But most surprising of all, we got through a 2-hour show, playing some of our all-time favourites, and we didn't play a single Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson-related song! Strange but true!
