Best Progressive Music Of 2012

Broadcast 13/01/2013.

Ok so it's all subjective. These are the tunes and bands that simply "did it" for us over the past 12 months. Prog fans the world over may argue the toss, and we're sorry that we didn't have more time to fit in more of the wonderful output from all over the world. It's a tragedy that we only had 2 hours for this feature.

Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts on the year that was in Progressive Music.

Special Guest Programmers: Nobby & Locky!

Nobby & Locky...back in the studio!

Long-time presenter Nobby (left), and Kaleidoscope Ears founder Locky came back on air to guest program our 30/12/12 show.

It was a pleasure to have the boys back on talking about the specific genres they love, with all three (including Dwayne) throwing tracks into the mix.

Nobby got the "Q" word in (Quintessential for the uninitiated) with just 12 minutes to spare and Locky dived headlong into the musical area he is most passionate about, American Garage.

But most surprising of all, we got through a 2-hour show, playing some of our all-time favourites, and we didn't play a single Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson-related song! Strange but true!

We continued last weeks Krautrock influenced theme with a mix of direct and indirect sounds from that era for our 23/12/12 show.

We then progressed to an eclectic mix to include a couple of tracks from a recently discovered art rock band called Traffic Experiment. Needless to say their dreamy Floydian cover of the Doctor Who theme got our rapt attention.
