Special Guests: The Witching Tree

For our 18/11/12 episode we were joined by Chris Pullen and James Johnston from Hobart Prog band The Witching Tree.

They spoke about the changes in their roles within the band over the last year, their influences and their planned new material for 2013.

Chris and James stayed on for hour 2 of the show to act as guest programmers and discuss some of the music that has influenced them on their path to make a "statement for the undrground prog scene in Hobart". The full playlist is below.

Ash has been on board with the Ears now for a couple of months but his first guest was local musician Warren Glover. Warren joined us in the studio to guest program some tracks for our first hour. He was in the Melbourne-based band My Coloured Brain as lead vocalist in the mid-90's. He had some very interesting insights into the music scene at that time. Kaleidocast below.

Warren selected tracks by Weezer, Wings, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse and his own band, My Colour Brain.  Check out the re-stream which includes all the music, before it expires! The Kaleidocast contains only the talk with entertaining anecdotes and opinion.

After almost 8 years as host of Kaleidoscope Ears, our good friend Nobby is stepping down from regular hosting. He will be back to present us with the occasional special feature, but his regular appearance on the show is now at an end.

Very aptly, Nobby's last playlist was a rare Pink Floyd concert from the dawn of psychedelic rock. To see the playlist, click here.

Without meeting Nobby, my overall musical experience would be so much the worse off. As a lifelong avid collector of music, he never ceases to astound and surprise me with the NEW music I am still hearing from the 60's and 70's, because he shares it with me.

Not only have I enjoyed every minute of our on air time over the years, I am honoured that over that the 6 years we have also become very close friends, and through the show we have met some amazing people we never would have otherwise.

You will be very missed in the studio Nobby, but I will see you at your place soon for our latest 5.1 surround sound adventure!

This week on the Ears Dwayne spoke with STEVE HACKETT (ex-Genesis) about the highly anticipated collaboration with Yes bassist CHRIS SQUIRE.

The project is called SQUACKETT, and the album, "A Life Within A Day" had progressive rock fans the world over on the edge of their seats.
